¿Qué es Good Fight?
Good Fight is karate for kids, adults, and teens who want to move, sweat, learn, and feel more capable.
It is not traditional line-up-and-punch-the-air karate. Classes include movement, striking, pad work, partner drills, self-defense, controlled contact, and a strong training community.
The goal is simple: useful training that feels good in your body and makes sense as you learn it.
-
¿Es este un dojo tradicional?
No.
We respect the roots, but Good Fight is not built around rigid dojo formality.
We do not spend class standing in lines, punching the air, and pretending repetition alone makes you ready for anything.
Expect clear coaching, strong movement, partner work, pad work, controlled contact, and useful karate.
-
WHAT LANGUAGE ARE CLASSES TAUGHT IN?
Classes are taught primarily in English.
Spanish speakers are welcome. I demonstrate everything clearly, and we make sure everyone can follow along.
-
¿Qué me pongo?
For your first class, just wear comfortable athletic clothing.
If you continue training, you’ll need a Good Fight training shirt and athletic shorts.
Good Fight trains in athletic gear rather than traditional uniforms — sometimes described as no-gi karate.
Most students also pick up boxing gloves and shin guards for partner drills and controlled contact.
-
¿Utilizas cinturones? ¿Cómo funcionan?
Our belts are white, green, brown, and black, with stripes used to mark progress along the way. That lets students grow within each belt without constantly buying new ones.
Kids train on our youth track, and older teens who are ready can move into the adult track.
Promotions are earned through training and consistency. We don’t charge testing or promotion fees.
-
WHAT HAPPENS IN A CLASS?
Every class is a mix of movement, striking, partner drills, pad work, self-defense, and controlled contact.
Some days feel technical. Some days feel like a workout. Some days feel like play. That mix is the point.
You do not need to understand the whole system before starting. Just come ready to train.
-
Absolutely.
You’ll build better posture, distance, angles, and timing — plus cleaner striking mechanics and footwork. It translates well to BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, and real-world movement.
-
¿Qué tipo de personas entrenan aquí?
People who want real training in a good room.
Locals and expats. Creatives, professionals, parents. Total beginners and cross-trainers. If you’re curious, respectful, and willing to work, you’ll fit in.
-
IS THERE SPARRING?
Yes — but we build into it progressively, and always with control.
We teach timing, distance, and composure first. Contact is introduced step by step, with safety gear always.
You’ll never be thrown into sparring before you’re ready.
-
IS THIS A COMPETITION SCHOOL?
Good Fight isn’t a tournament-focused program. Tournaments are focused on traditional Kata and point fighting.
We train for skill, movement, timing, and real application. Some students compete in other arts, but our focus is on confidence in capability — not competition.
-
WHAT AGE CAN KIDS START?
Most kids begin around age 7.
Our youth program focuses on coordination, focus, resilience, and learning to work with others. Training is structured but fun, and kids progress at their own pace.
-
¿Puedo probar una clase antes de comprometerme?
Yes. Your first class is free.
Come try a class, meet me, see the room, and decide if it feels right before committing.
-
WILL I FEEL OUT OF PLACE IF I’M BRAND NEW?
Not at all.
Most people start with little or no experience. Classes include a mix of beginners and more experienced students, and everyone trains together.
The culture of the room matters to us. People help each other, ask questions, and progress at their own pace.
If you show up willing to learn, you’ll fit right in.
